Hi Charade,

Its certainly something we will do if the demand is there. I love visiting the US, so doing some concerts over there would be great. If we do manage to get a US tour arranged for 2009 we will be sure to play a night in Roswell Smiler

Kind Regards
Gary Simmons

Gary,
That would be wonderful! But only on one condition. I have to be "Robin's" special guest! Wink Big Grin
You think YOU could arrange that?!? HEE HEE!!!

Let us all know if this really can and will happen!! I'm sure we would all make the effort to attend where ever you can book a place to play. Smiler

Hi guys,

I'm Nick, originally from NY and now in PA. This is a great site! Gee must have been thrilled to meet the Gibbs. I would love to meet Robin and Barry and thank them for all the happiness, and rest in peace Maurice. He was a great musician, a great bass player/mellotron player, etc. Anyone have an inkling when "Odessa" comes out on CD in mono/stereo mixes? Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Sincerely,
Nick

Hi Laura,

I am in Bethlehem, PA in Northampton County. That's terrific that you met the Gibb Brothers. Perhaps we can swap stories about the Bee Gees.
Just listened to the box set last night. I think they should have released "Ring My Bell", and "Out Of Line", as well as "Mrs. Gillespie's Refrigerator". What is your fave LP/45 By them, if applicable, or CD? I love the single "Words"/"Sinking Ships". Looking forward to talking to you.
Where did you meet the guys exactly?

Nick

Hi Laura,

I would be happy to view those pics of you and the Gibbs. Let me know how I can email you, etc. Are Barry and Robin both gracious (I'm sure they are, just wanted to ask) about answering questions regarding music, albums, etc. I've read that once you are Barry's friend, he'll do anything that a friend will do. When I've seen him on talk shows, he and the others have always been polite.

What's funny is that I met Karen Lynn Gorney a few years ago at a convention in NJ, and she gave me one of her CDs--she sings the standards on it, and it sounds really nice. She autographed for me and I still have it. She said that Barry put up the money for her to get it recorded, so to put it the Gibbs way, he is "A Man For All Seasons" (love that flip side).

Hey Everyone-
I'm playing catch-up here but I just had to post.
I'm from Michigan - close to Detroit (but NOT IN IT - lol) Have been a fan since 78 so that puts me at 30 years. Altho I found a 45 of Lonley Days in my record collection from the 60's - so I can add an extra 10. LOL It doesn't matter - time flies.
Saw the brothers for the first time ever in 79 - at the Chicago Stadium. It was my 21st birthday and what a day that was. Andy even surprised the crown and joined them in You Should Be Dancing.
In 1989 I was fortunate enuf to attend the Love & Hope Festival for diabetes and had the pleasure of meeting them again, watching them play tennis and just having a grand ol time. I got pictures I'd be more than happy to share but I don't have photobucket or an online album thingy. Just a myspace.
Glad to see everyone on here and honored to be a part of this great group of fans.
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Good to see you on the message board! I have been a Bee Gees fan for as long as I remember. Does anyone know, in their vast empire of connections, that I can try to meet and greet Barry and Robin? It's been an aspiration of mine for some time now. Actually, I just met Micky Dolenz recently, back in May, so that's 1/2 of The Monkees. Also met Peter. They were both very nice people and fun to talk to. Anyroad, though, if anyone has any advice or tips, do let me know.
Kathy, what is your favorite Bee Gees album and song? Smiler
From the early days I have to say "Horizontal"and "Odessa" (both tied). From the 70s, "To Whom It May Concern", I do like "2 Years On" quite a bit as well. I have a copy of "A Kick In The Head Is Worth Eight In The Pants". I mentioned on another board that it's the best album The Bee Gees didn't release, although "King And Country" was on the Tales From The Brothers Gibb box set, and "Wouldn't I Be Someone"/"Elisa" was released as a single. "It Doesn't Matter Much To Me" was on Tales as well, but the single version B Side of "Mr. Natural". The "Kick" version is different.
Keep osting Kathy and all! Looking forward to meeting with you on the board!

Nick

Oh how cool - a Monkees fan too! Had the privledge of seeing them at a local venue back in 01 - I felt like a kid again and they were just as good.

As far as the Bee Gees go - I don't k now if they still have it but we met them at Barry's Love & Hope Fextival for Diabetes research. OMG that was back in 89 so you may have to google it.

Just a thought - good luck. They are as sweet and as down to earth as can be which is awesome considering their popularity.

I have some pictures from that on my myspace - if you have one email me and you can see them. Sadly my laptop crashed and I am on my old computer and I don't have them saved on here.

I am such a ditz.....lol

Hi Again Kathy,

"Main Course" Is many a fan favorite, and Robin even says it is one of his favorites. I like the early stuff on ATCO the best pre "Jive Talkin'". "Words" was never on a regular album. It may have fit nice on "Horizontal". "Words" was on "Best of Bee Gees", a 1969 compilation. Barry Gibb even said he didn't know it was on any album until recently. It was a single, as is the flip side "Sinking Ships". Great song.

Talk soon,
Nick

Hey to you again Nick ----
Timing is everything - my new computer crashed so I have been working off my old one - slower than molasses and have been fighting bronchitis for about 4 weeks - just hopped on here tonight - withdrawl I guess - and there was your reply.

Thanks for the history on the songs - I wasn't aware - I just LOVE Words - something about it.....perhaps the voice???? LOL

Wow - ATCO - that is such a blast from the past - if I remember correctly - my 45 of Lonely Days is on that label.

Glad to hear Robin & I think alike - lol. I don't know why or how I pick favorites - they just settle into that mode.....Ironically I am not a big disco fan but then again, SNF - yup, I like it.

This Thursday my kid & I are going to go see KC & The Sunshine Band & the Village People at a local venue. woo ha

Hmmmm.... did I say I didn't really like disco?

Well, need to sign off - dinner doesn't make itself.

Hey - do you have a myspace? I got my Barry pic's on there and the older computer is not letting me save as or send - I'm stuck.

Have a good week and I look forward to the next post

Kathy

Hi Kathy Smiler

Thanks for your last post. I don't have a MySpace at this time, but my friend is showing me how to make one.

You are right about "Lonely Days" being on ATCO. It's a great single. The Flip side, "A Man For All Seasons" is one of thier best.

You sound pretty enthused (?) about KC And The Village People. Speaking of which, Barry said at one point that "If I Can't Have You" was written for ABBA originally. Disco at the time was considered Donna Summer and KC. I was listening to "Spirits Having Flown" today, and it is quite an album in itself. I love "Search,Find" as well as the title cut. The Title cut reminds me of "Kilburn Towers"--a track that was on the "Idea" LP in 1968 and the flip side of "I Started A Joke". It's a great song as well It has that dream like quality. Another one is "Rest Your Love
On Me"--the flip of "Too Much Heaven". It's a very countrified song. You have to experience it.

Don't work too hard OK? Looking forward to your next messageSmiler

Sincerely,
Nick
