Lorraine, I agree with you! I haven't just one favourite song. But A LOT! "How to Fall in Love, Part 1", "Just in Case", "Melody Fair", "Toys", "Night Fever", "Elisa", "Dogs", "On Time", "Don't Wanna Live Inside Myself", "We're the Bunburys", "I Can't Help It", "Crazy for Your Love", "Secret Agent", "Shine Shine", "Spirits (Having Flown)", "Silly Litte Girl", "The Day Your Eyes Meet Mine", "Letting Go", "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away", "Birdie Told Me", "Decadance", "You Win Again", "When He's Gone", "Alone", "Technicolor Dreams", "Idea", "He's a Liar", "Irons in the Fire", "Cucumber Castle", "Trash", "Fanny (Be Tender with My Love)", "Stranger in a Strange Land", "Woman in Love", "Chain Reaction", "I.O.I.O.", "C'est la Vie, Au Revoir", "Children of the World", "Playdown", "Morning of My Life"... (only to list some of them) And my favourite albums are "Size Isn't Everything", "Walls Have Eyes", "Cucumber Castle", "Mr. Natural", "Sing Slowly Sisters" and "Odessa". I think the unreleased albums should be released by Rhino. "A Kick in the Head", "Sing Slowly Sisters", "The Loner", "A Breed Apart", "The Kid's No Good" are albums too better to be shelved. As Kirsten said, BEE GEES RULE!!! |

My first introduction to the beegees was when my brother bought spicks & specks in 1967(I was 9), later he bought Massachusetts. In 1968 there was a live show on tv and from that moment I was a beegees fan. Later I started to collect all the records. My first self bought album was Two Years On, and remains as one of my favorite albums. Other favorite albums are Horizontal, Idea, Odessa,To whom It may concern, Main Course, one & This is where I came in. My favorite single is I started a joke. Other favorite songs are Holiday, World, I've gotta get a message to you, Man for all seasons, How can you mend a broken heart, My world, My life has been a song.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this board, but not new to the Bee Gees!!
I have to say my favorite album/CD is "One" . No.............Wait.........Maybe it's " This Is Where I Came In". Or.....Hmmmmm? Maybe "Size Isn't Everything". Do I really have to pick my FAVORITE!!???? I JUST CAN'T!!!! My Favorite song(s) are "Charade" and "Toys" and "Could not Love You More" and "Sacred Trust" and "Embrace" and.......... HELP!!!! Right now it's Deja Vu. The ending is fantastic and surprisingly energetic.
I think that "...Where I Came In" is their best work since "Main Course." It blends early BG's with a modern sound and wonderfully crafted arrangements. If Maurice hadn't gone away... |

I have to agree with Main Course being one of my all time favorites - with ALL others as favorites. Favorite song - cannot just pick one but I Started A Joke and Words - awesome.

Hi all,
I am a newcomer to this site, and this is a great topic! two: "Horizontal" and "Odessa", although "Bee Gees 1st" and "Idea" are great. From the 70s, there are a few: "Two Years On", "To Whom It May Concern" (which I feel is the BEST Bee Gees LP of the 70s, and I have a MONO promo copy of that on vinyl), "Life In A Tin Can", and "Mr. Natural". I think the unreleased "A Kick In The Head Is Worth Eight In The Pants" is available to be downloaded online. The song that it doesn't list though, is the final one "Life Am I Wasting Time?" The rest of it is all great stuff. My favorite Bee Gees single is "First Of May"/"Lamplight" (from the 60s), and "My World"/"On Time" from the 70s. Definitely check out "First of May"/"Lamplight" on the original 45 on ATCO. The mono mixes are slightly different. The Bee Gees music has provided much happiness in my life, and have influenced me to play guitar and write poetry. When I play gigs, I strum out "Marley Purt Drive". I played that one night, and a guy in the club came up to me and thanked me for playing that song, for he had not heard it since he bought "Odessa". I will be back on soon, guys! Nick in PA |

I have over 6 hours of Bee Gee's songs on my PC Currently I'm captivated by This is Where I Came In. I'll narrow down my choices for the time being to the above, Horizontal, and Main Course.
Songs: Deja Vu, And The Sun Will Shine, and Melody Fair... and I could keep going. |

Hi kpcarroll and all,
I also love the 45 "Alive"/"Paper Mache, Cabbages and Kings", and "Run To Me"/"Road To Alaska". There are also rare 45s out there from Barry and Maurice. One is "I'll Kiss Your Memory"/"This Time" and "Railroad"/"I've Come Back". |

Hi again, Nick -
To Whom It May Concern is a unique album in their catalog. That grouping of short little songs on side 1 was something they hadn't done before. Paper Mache... is wild, no? I've gotta look thru my 45's - I have one on which the B side is a song written and sung by Maurice, which was rare at the time. "Dogs" is another favorite. Speaking of NYC, I have some nice photos of the boys playing in Central Park at the Schaefer Music Festival, right after the release of Main Course. I'll try to post it on My Space or elsewhere. Let you know. Later, Kevin C. |

Hi Kevin,
"Paper Mache..." is wild. Someone called it a "bad acid trip", when they were reviewing "To Whom It May Concern". Maurice said about the title that "So whoever wants to buy it, will buy it..." "Jimmy had a bomb, and the bomb went bang, Jimmy was everywhere" sounds like a children's nursery rhyme, kinda like "Ring Around the Rosey" (Which isn't too innocent either, considering that one's about the plague). "Main Course" is nice, but only a few cuts stand out for me. "Mr. Natural" should have been a bigger hit, though. They were on the Mike Douglas show in Feb. 1974 performing that one. Barry said that "Mr. Natural" is one of those albums where he listened to it once and never did again. It's great R&B. Alan Kendall's guitar work is great on that. Nick |

It was 1975; I graduated High School that year. I remember hearing a Bee Gees song on the radio and the DJ gave the name of the album; Main Course. I went right out and bought the album to listen to "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" anytime I wanted. It's still the best.
I used to have some 45s on the ATCO label from the late '60s. Massachusettes, Holiday, I Started A Joke, Words. Used to play them all the time. It's so funny to see my kids go to a school dance with a "70s" theme and all they play is Disco, and mostly Bee Gees. Don't know why because before Saturday Night Fever, most of what is thought of as "Disco" is actually R&B with a bit of Soul. Jive Talkin' and Nights On Broadway are NOT disco. Listen to the other artists that were big at the time. Isaac Hayes and Marvin Gaye come to mind. Though while you could dance to it, the music was not Disco. Even some of their earlier music was definitely R&B; To Love Somebody, I've Gotta Get A Message To You, Lonely Days. Put on some headphones and REALLY listen. Great stuff. Barry, Robin, Maurice. Thank you; from a younger me. PS - the concert version of New York Mining Disaster 1941 is pretty good, too. |

Hi TooMuchTime and all:
I agree 100 percent with you on the "Main Course" album. "Jive Talkin'", "Nights On Broadway", "Country Lanes", are clearly R&B/Pop. They actually wrote "If I Can't Have You" for ABBA. Barry explains that disco at that time was KC and the Sunshine Band and Donna Summer. "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever" were actually written before Stigwood went up to them and said this is going to be for a movie. Those songs were written for a new studio album that The Bee Gees were going to record in 1977. "Love So Right" is an R&B ballad, "Rest Your Love On Me" is Country, and "You Can't Keep a Good Man Down" is Pop. "Too Much Heaven", one of my favorites, is R&B as well. Nick |

Hi everyone I'm new here, I have been a Bee Gees fan since 79'.
I enjoy the album tracks more than the commercial singles. I love the "Life In a Tin Can" LP/CD and the track "Method To My Madness" kept me sane after my brother died. "Songbird" on Main Course is great and lol "All This Making Love" is just hilarious. |
