What is you opinion on the "Living Eyes" 1981 album? Do you think Barry Gibb made a mistake by not using falsettos in these songs? Was it a mistake to release "He's A Liar" (#30 pop hit in the United States) as the first single? In my opinion, "Paradise", "Soldiers" and the title track was the best songs on this album. Do you like this album or hate it? To me, it was a signal that disco was over and the Bee Gees were starting all over again.

I think Living Eyes was an absolutely brilliant album - one of my favorites along with Main Course, Still Waters and Cucumber Castle.

About not using falsettos: I don't think it really mattered at that stage what they did - they were written off as disco artists and disco was considered bad. Living Eyes is incredible but didn't get anywhere because it was by the Bee Gees, not because people didn't like the music on it.

I agree that it was wrong to choose He's A Liar as the single. Paradise would probably have been a better one, along with the title track. Other favorites off this album are Be Who You Are, Wildflower (Mo's best IMO), Don't Fall In Love with Me and Nothing Could Be Good (basically all songs on the album Wink).

Living Eyes is the Bee Gees at their best - classy, elegant, they clearly worked hard at this.
