Is there a voice synthesizer being used in the song "I Can't See Nobody" or is the singer (also, who is the singer?) actually singing like that? The sound I mean is most prominent in the line "I used to smile and say hello" where it sounds like he's choking on his tongue. Can anybody tell me how this effect was produced?

Herman,
Amen to that - his voice is one you can listen to over and over and NEVER get tired of. Altho I can see where the question came up - he does sound "odd" at parts of the song but I blame that on old recording options.
The man can sing!!!!!!!!

It is Robin's voice on the song. Let's not forget he was 18 when he sang it. On "Really and Sincerely" he sounds similar.
